1st Week Tuesday - Friday, 7 00am4 30 pm
2nd Week Monday Friday, 7 00am 4 30 pm
Major Duties
The incumbent will play an important role in exotic pest detection in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. Primarily, the incumbent will be responsible for installing, baiting, maintaining, and collecting various traps in the field to detect the presence of exotic moths. Incumbent will also be involved in other exotic pest detection surveys including Asian Longhorned Beetle, Emerald Ash Borer, and Cerceris fummipennis. This work will require working in a variety of environments including orchards, fields, commercial businesses, storage sites, nurseries, rail yards, industrial sites, forests, ports of entry, etc. Incumbent will be responsible for collecting insect specimens and recording data. Some data collection will require the use of GPS, Microsoft Excel, and other online data management systems. Work will require extensive travel DAILY in CT/MA/RI using a government vehicle. Incumbent will work independently and as part of a team. Duties will involve routine interaction with the general public and businesses.
Minimum Qualifications:
Basic Requirements
Employee must have a valid US drivers license. Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word are required. Employee should have experience performing the duties described above or have completed coursework at the college level that includes scientific or technical courses such as biology, chemistry, entomology, botany, agriculture, etc.

Wages, Salary and Benefits:

Series/Grade GS-421-03 or 04, depending on qualifications
GS-3 $13.47/hour
GS-4 $15.12/hour
